Konkan railway traffic is disrupted due to collapse of protection wall on the tracks near Nivsar station in Ratnagiri district .
Konkan Railway Corporation Limited's (KRCL) Public Relation Manager Baban Ghatge said trains have been stopped at various stations and work to clear off debris from the track was on. It also informed that KRCL is making bus arrangements to avoid inconvenience to passengers.

Isro chairman to inaugurate facility in Umiam next month
A real-time data centre for issuing warnings ahead of natural disasters, is being set up in the Northeastern Space Applications Centre at Umiam near Shillong. This centre will pool all data and expertise on disasters and issue warnings as much in advance as possible. By the second week of July, ISRO chairman K. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the Regional Nodal Centre for Disaster Data and Management Facility in North Eastern Region.
This facility will collect data about floods, cyclones, river erosion, earthquakes and landslides and other related phenomenon to which the region is highly prone and issue advance warnings whenever a disaster is about to occur.
This new facility would be really a helping hand in course of time, on which the state/district disaster management authorities could depend on to save lives, property and public assets and which would become worthy of emulation elsewhere in the country.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister and Chairman, National Disaster Management Authority chaired a special meeting of NDMA on 1st June 2011 to review India’s Disaster Preparedness in the wake of the recent Japanese disasters. India has an enviable and impeccable record of safety & security and virtually fail-safe arrangement in its all Nuclear Establishments, but preparedness to deal with an unlikely emergency has to be highly focused upon. In order to assess the capability of the District administration to deal with an off-site emergency, NDMA is conducting a Mock Drill at the Tarapur Nuclear facility.
